Woven on a 4 harness floor loom with a black and white end-and-end warp, these small weavings explore the optical reaction of shots of color against black and white striped ground. I created these designs first digitally, to scale, and then wove them with cotton yarns. I created textural effects with varying stripe density. Depending colored motifs being sandwiched between black stripes or white, the color motifs appear brighter or recede into the ground.
