In 2017, I designed the DittoHouse Rise collection. Feeling overwhelmed by extreme injustice in the world, I looked to the wisdom of the leaders of the Civil Rights movement. Feeling that designing textiles is a frivolous and unnecessary calling in the world we live in, I took great inspiration in these words by Howard Thurman: “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” and this collection poured out of me with a renewed sense of purpose.
