I love Op-Art and am very inspired by the works of the pioneers of the movement so I designed the Optical Movement collection in 2021. These textiles were created as a personal challenge to see how much optical activity I could get with only 4 yarn colors. I created these designs and was thrilled to see that juxtaposing diagonal lines created the illusion of so many more than 4 colors. As color maestro Josef Albers says “We experience the fact that color and seeing color depends on its juxtaposition with other colors, its shape, its placement, and especially upon its quantity. All of which is to say that any one color has innumerable looks.”
